Full Steam Ahead for Cadets

Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron, and 2065 (Biggleswade), recently supported the Bedfordshire Steam and Country Fayre, held at Old Warden Park.

The cadets were out in force for both the Saturday and Sunday of the event, performing car parking duties, ensuring that the many visitors attending the event we able to park their vehicles with.

As a reward to the cadets for their hard work, the cadets got to have a go on the miniature steam engines, and even got to try driving themselves. The cadets also got to enjoy an evening on the fairground rides and attractions, which are themselves also powered by steam engines.

The organisers, the Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society, will also be donating £1000 to be split between both of the Squadrons, and we thank them for their support.

Cadet Matthew Foster, 14, said, “It was a really good weekend, especially the miniature steam engines, and the evening at the fairground. It was great to have been able to help out with the car parking”.
