Mayoral Recognition of Sandy Cadets Support

On Thursday 9th May, Sandy Air Cadets received a surprise visit from the Mayor of Sandy, Councillor Susan Sutton, to present a certificate in recognition of the support given by the Squadron.

The certificate was presented in recognition of the Squadrons support over the last twelve months to the Mayor and Sandy Town Council, such as recently providing a guard of honour at the Mayor’s Civic Service.

Councillor Sutton also made a special presentation to Cadet Rebecca Hammond, 15, who carried the Royal British Legion banner at the Mayor's Civic Service recently, as a personal favour on the behalf of the mayor’s father.

Cadet Hammond was present with a framed photograph of her carrying the banner at the civic service.

Squadron Officer Commanding, Flying Officer Robert Kitchener RAF VR(T) commented, "It is a great honour to receive recognition from the Sandy Town Mayor for the support that the 22 (Sandy) Squadron cadets have provided over the past year.  The squadron is equally honoured to carry on supporting the Mayor during her tenure in whatever way, shape or form it can to ensure the strong and positive relationship continues."

The Squadron would like to thank the Mayor for the certificate, and for the continued support the Squadron has received from the Mayor and Sandy Town Council.
