Sandy Cadets Take On Slalom

On Sunday 12th July, cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron took part in a day of white water kayaking at Priory Country Park in Bedford.

Along with over 80 cadets from Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, the six cadets attending enjoyed a day on the dedicated slalom course.

For most of the cadets it was their first taste of white water kayaking, and despite the occasional rain shower, was a really enjoyable day.

Fitted with helmets and buoyancy aids, the cadets all got multiple goes down the course, which tested the cadet’s control of the kayaks, with the less experienced cadets quickly getting used to the kayaks, although there were a few trips into the water.

Cadet William Clubb (14) said, “The kayaking was really good fun, although I did end up in the water. This is the first time I’ve done this kind of kayaking, and I can’t wait to do it again”.
