Sandy Cadets Join 70th Anniversary Celebrations

Sandy Cadets Join 70th Anniversary CelebrationsOn Sunday 6th February, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron joined six other squadrons in a parade through Bedford to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the forming of the Air Training Corps in 1941.

With over 120 cadets, the parade formed up behind Bedford Town, before marching through the town to St. Pauls Church, led by the band of 2484 (Bassingbourn) Squadron.

After a special church service to the 70th Anniversary of the ATC, the parade was inspected by Mayor of Bedford, Cllr David Hodgson, taking time to talk to a number of the cadets. The parade ended with a march past outside Bedford Magistrates Court, with the salute being taken by Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Paul Bower.

Cadet Sergeant Tiffany Cotton said “It was really good to march through Bedford with so many people stopping to watch. Also getting to speak to the mayor during the inspection added to this special day”.

Civilian Instructor Sinead How said “A lot is said about young people today, but marching through Bedford today really showed what young people can do, and they should all be very proud of themselves”.
