RAF Linton on Ouse Summer Camp

Three Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron recently returned from a week long camp at RAF Linton on Ouse, Yorkshire.

Summer CampCadet Flight Sergeant Akeel Shaikh (18), Cadet Corporal Melinda Haine (15) and Cadet William Phoenix (14) were among the 30 cadets attending the camp from Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing.

During the camp the cadets enjoyed a number of activities such as flying, gliding, target shooting, trips to the Eden Prisoner of War camp museum and the Adrenalin outdoor obstacle course.

The cadets also visited a number of units based at RAF Linton on Ouse, gaining an insight into the workings of the Royal Air Force and how they train their junior pilots.

At the conclusion of the camp, Cadet William Phoenix was given the award of “Best Male Cadet on Camp”.

Cadet Phoenix said "I really enjoyed my first summer camp and have made new friends. It was a great week, and to be awarded best male cadet was a surprise".
