Sandy Cadet Celebrate the Battle of Britain

Duxford VisitOn Saturday 15th May, cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron attended a special event dedicated to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Royal Air Force at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.

The event, held as part of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, allowed the cadets to get up close to legendary aircraft such as the Spitfire, and to talk to the pilots who flew them. There were also displays from the Band of the Royal Air Force College and the Queen’s Colour Squadron.

The cadets also got to look around the museums superb collection of historic aircraft, learning about their aviation heritage.  The interactive displays proved to be highly engaging, with the model building tent proving to be very popular, with the cadets being able to build their own replica of a historic aircraft.

Cadet Elliot Hall (13) said, “With so much to see and do, it was an amazing day. Walking around and learning about these historic aircraft is really special, and all the activities were really fun, especially the model building“.
