Bank Holiday Gliding Experience

On Sunday 26th May, Four Air Cadets from Sandy & Biggleswade took advantage of the Bank Holiday weekend sunshine by taking to the skies over Bedfordshire, flying in Gliders.

The gliding took place on the morning of Sunday 26th May, with the four cadets from 22 (Sandy) and 2065 (Biggleswade) Squadrons, flying in the Grob G109 Vigilant motorised glider, with 616 Volunteer Gliding School, based at RAF Henlow.

For three of the cadets, this was their first ever experience in a glider, and saw them all get to learn the basic of flying.

The twenty minute flights offered the cadets with a great view of Bedfordshire from the air, and all the cadets even getting the chance to experience take control of the aircraft for themselves.

Cadet Filippo Plumb, 14, who experienced his first flight, commented, “The gliding was a great experience. I even got the chance to fly the glider on my first flight”.
