Wing Cross Country

On Sunday 17th February, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron took part in the Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing Cross-Country competition held at Hinchinbrook School, Cambridgeshire.

The course started from the School grounds, taking the cadets out into Hinchinbrook County Park, running through some challenging terrain, and around some of the picturesque lakes and paths in the park, before reaching the finish line back on the school grounds.

The day ended with a parade in the School Gym, in order to hand out medals and trophies for each age group.

Cadet Conner Kilby (14) said, “The course was quite an enjoyable run through the park, despite some mud, and the weather really helped make it a good day. The day was also a great chance to meet other cadets from across the area”.

The weekend prior to cross country, cadets also took part in hockey, and junior boys rugby trials, also held at Hinchinbrook School.

Well done to Cadet Callan Whitbread (15) and Cadet Jakub Grabowski (15), who were both selected to play on the wing Junior Boys Rugby team at RAF Cranwell in March.

Cadet Whitbread commented, “I was really surprised to find out that I made the wing team, and it’s great that I will go on to represent the wing next month”.
