Sandy Cadets Come Second All Round

On Sunday 25th March, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron took part in the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing first aid competition, and sector banner drill competition, taking second place in both.

The competitions held at Bassingbourn Barracks saw the cadets competing against cadets from across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Those in the banner drill team were, Cadet Jessica Gouveia, Cadet Lauren Barton, Cadet William Clubb, Cadet Callan Whitbread, and as banner bearer, Cadet Corporal Laura Dorrell.

The first to compete were the banner drill team in the sector competition, which saw the team earn a well-deserved second place, being beaten by last year’s national champions, and improving upon the squadron’s previous best result.

The first aid team were put through a number of challenging scenarios to test first aid knowledge, skills, and ability to perform under pressure. The team took 2nd place, being beaten by last year’s winners. Those in the first aid team were, Cadet Elliot Hall, Cadet Evelyn Harris, Cadet Rebecca Hammond, and Cadet Ben Kilby.

Cadet Ben Kilby said, “The first aid competition was really challenging, and they put us through some tough scenarios, but the team did exceptionally well, and second was a great result”.
Adult Sergeant Sinead How commented, “Well done to everyone that competed today. Great results on both fronts, and all should be very proud of how they performed”.
