RAF Odiham Summer Camp

Cadets from Sandy were among the group who attended the Beds and Cambs Wing Air Cadet Summer Camp at RAF Odiham in Hampshire.

Cadets from the 22 (Sandy) Squadron joined cadets from squadrons based across Bedfordshire at the camp, which included navigation exercises, station visits, bowling, flying, a night exercise and a visit to Portsmouth.

The cadets also visited USL (Under Slung Loads) and the JHSS (Joint Helicopter Support Squadron) where the training team showed cadets and staff how under slung loads are achieved with a Chinook helicopter.

After the training three members of staff were also able to undertake this under the watchful eye of the team.

All of the staff and cadets were able to fly in the Chinooks twice courtesy of 18 and 27 Squadrons.

In the night exercise the cadets were also asked to build a landing area.
