Sandy cadets in service for voluntary services

On the 22nd May, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron attended a service of thanksgiving and re-dedication for voluntary organisations in Bedfordshire.

The service held, at the parish church of St. Andrew in Bedford by the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Sir Samuel Whitbread, commemorated the work of voluntary organisations such as the Air Cadets throughout Bedfordshire. The service also marked the retirement of Sir Samuel Whitbread as the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire.

The cadets were invited to the service, as well as preforming duties such as guiding guests to the service, and helping serve refreshments to the guests of the Lord Lieutenant after the service.

After the service the Lord Lieutenant took time to talk to the cadets and thank them for their assistance on the day.

Flight Lieutenant Geoff Matthews RAFVR(T), commented “The cadets did their squadron proud today, as well as the town of Sandy. To be asked to representing the Air Cadets throughout Bedfordshire was a big honour for the squadron”.
